SiteLogic is back!

The idea for Dynamik Solutions was to create complete web presence solutions for niche markets using a really neat CMS platform I’ve been working on called SiteLogic. When I decided to actually get Dynamik Solutions started with Matt Rossetta, we had been working as independent contractors on a project called Unity, which was a web-based business automation solution. We had wanted to break ties with Fonestream Networks, the project stakeholder, even before the whole Spamhaus fiasco, but I really liked working on Unity. In fact, it was me who pitched the project. Since there was no contract involved in the Unity project, it wouldn’t have been a big deal to just do it again on our own and we’d already have a customer waiting for us.

The problem with Unity is mostly its scope. I mean, I envisioned so much that it’s really more of a product line than a single product. We broke it into sub products, Unity Finance, Unity CRM, etc, and each one was still a huge project. Plus, with a team that small, it really helps that everybody understands the domain we’re working in, and I’m the only one with a penchant for business and all things related. Then if we get the thing done, we may have a customer and even potential reseller, but we really don’t want to have anything to do with that company.

The other idea behind Dynamik Solutions was to build a company from the ground up without third party investments. Progrium Software failed to move forward because its business model was dependent on a project that was so grandiose that it required a hefty sum of money to really get started. I would much rather now do something that could be done all on our own, start generating revenue, and maybe later get funded to expand (a little). Unity might be able to accomplish this, but SiteLogic would be much easier.

Taking the SiteLogic approach would also mean we’d have more potential customers in our reach, and would also allow us to try out things that we wanted to implement in Unity, which would be beneficial if we ever want to come back to Unity.

So there it is. Besides E3 and SuperHappyDevHouse, SiteLogic is what we’ll be doing this month. We should have a nice tech demo by June.
